Sometimes things fall apart in our lives, so that better things call fall together. I’m submitting my story to a publication in hopes of being included in a book about women and faith. While I’m drafting my entry, I couldn’t help but think about how many times in my life, it looked and felt like everything was falling apart. On the back end of those shattered pieces was a beautiful mosaic masterpiece.
– Had I not had a parent that struggled with drug addiction, I would have been more open to exploring drugs. I am happy to say that I’ve never even smoked a cigarette because I was so afraid of addiction.
– Had I not relocated from Kansas City to Minnesota the summer before my freshman year of High School, I would not have been able to join Upward Bound, attend North High School in Minneapolis and ultimately go to college.
– Had I not endured a bad marriage and relationship for 5 years, I would not have been open to my current husband. I would not know all of the red flags in a relationship.
The thing is, every single thing, bad or good that happens to us contributes to who we are and who we will become. Rather than wallowing in self-pity when you’re in the midst of a personal or professional storm… SEARCH FOR THE RAINBOW… The rainbow is a reminder that the storm is coming to an end. If things are falling apart in your life, remember that you can always bend down, pick up the pieces and rebuild from scratch…
