“Take up one idea. Make that one idea your life – think of it, dream of it, live on that idea. Let the brain, muscles, nerves, every part of your body, be full of that idea, and just leave every other idea alone. This is the way to success, that is way great spiritual giants are produced.”
– Swami Vivekananda
What is the thing that you most want in life? I’ll never forget when my husband decided he wanted a motorcycle. Whenever he wants anything, it consumes him. He saved a screenshot of this motorcycle. It was the topic of conversation with several of his biker friends. He watched You-Tube videos of people riding the motorcycle and going over its features. Short of ownership, this motorcycle was his obsession until literally 30 days later, he purchased one, and he purchased it at a great rate! Now, this motorcycle wasn’t the thing he wanted most in life and I wouldn’t recommend the thing that you want most to be… well a thing… but more of an experience or a state of being.
How serious are you about pursuing your goals? Are you willing to sacrifice your money or some sleep to make it happen? Do you spend more time pursuing your goal than you do surfing the net or watching TV? Have you shared your goals with the people you love most, especially those who are going to support you and remind you of your desires? If you want to finish college, have you imagined your graduation day? Are you investigating job opportunities post graduation? If you want to switch careers, have you researched your new industry? Is your resume updated so that when you meet someone at a networking event, you can give them your updated resume?
If you want love, are you giving love? Are you a kind person with an open heart that will be a magnet for the man or woman you’re going to spend the rest of your life with? Your dreams have to be a part of you. You have to see it… on your vision board, on your to do list. You have to taste it… It has to make your mouth water. Imagine a business dinner with a new client. You have to smell it… Fresh roses arriving to your penthouse suite office. You have to touch it… a new coat from the clothing line you just launched. You have to hear it… speeches on Youtube from your industry’s leaders. Encouraging words from your best friends. If you haven’t gone beyond just talking about your dreams, then you’re not really focused. Your energy is going somewhere else. So tell me, what is that you really want?
