This past week has been monumental.

Last Thursday, I had the opportunity to witness the birth of the next generation of Chicago Artists and my heart is still overwhelmed by their passion, talent and creativity.

Hosting an event is hard work. This was the first event of this magnitude that I had the pleasure of coordinating and I am so proud that despite the weather, we had a room full of people supporting our youth and supporting our vision.

It is such an honor and pleasure to work so closely with my husband. Interestingly enough, the thing that first attracted us to each other was this desire to make a positive change in the lives of others. This desire to serve and be used by God beyond our own personal egos or even our love and commitment for each other is the engine that keeps our marriage going. Our love & marriage is a one of the most precious gifts I’ve ever received. I also understand though that we are on this earth to do more than just love each other.  God sent us here with a mission and our job as life partners is to continuously help each other “stay on course.”

Donda’s House, Inc. is one of many “babies” that we’ve given birth to together. I am excited about all of the youth that we have yet to meet and all of the lives we will change by providing access to high quality arts instruction. I’ll never forget when Donda’s House, Inc. was born approximately two years ago on the phone the day after Christmas! To have our first graduating class is humbling and it makes me want to work even harder because my dream is to see our artists dreams and goals come true.

On a personal level we’re gearing up for the holidays. My sister-in-law and I have a full day of cooking and preparing to get ready for the 10+ family members that will be joining us at our home on Thursday. So excited my mom-in-law will be driving up to spend the day with us. I have so much to be thankful for this year and I ask that God continue to bless me with the energy, inspiration and intestinal fortitude to press on!
