What can you do right now to change your life for the better?
So often we think that we have to spend a ton of money to change the quality of our lives, but there are micro changes that you can make to decrease stress, save more money or move closer to your dream life.
Too often we make other people responsible for our happiness. If only he would… if only my mom… if only my dad. You will not be happy until you take responsibility and ownership over your life and your happiness.
Here are three small things I’ve done in the last week or so to improve my quality of life
(1) Changed my shower heads. For $26, I was able to purchase a large shower head rather than the small one that was already there when we purchased the house. You’d think a shower head is insignificant, but after going on Florida in vacation and experiencing that Sheraton Shower head, I vowed to go home and get one of my own. If you think about it, you shower everyday and sometimes more than once per day. You owe it to yourself to create a little sanctuary in the bathroom where you can truly relax and rejuvenate!
(2) Started packing my work bag at night. There is nothing worse than running around like a blind bat every morning looking for glasses, keys or computer cords. Though subtle, a chaotic start to the day equals a bad attitude and a short temper. Take 10 – 15 minutes to pack your purse or your work bag before you go to bed to create a calmer morning routine.
(3) Start writing a monthly budget. You only have so much money coming in and most of your bills are fixed. Maybe you like to stop for Starbucks every morning or you want to take advantage of Victoria’s Secret Semi-Annual Sale? Whatever the case, writing out what you intend to do with your money will help you get your financial life in order, and you may even be able to save a little money for a rainy day later. My household has been doing this consistently since August, and it has truly changed the way I think about our finances and it has certainly helped us avoid late fees and penalties because we are just as careful and attentive to our finances as we are to other areas of our lives.
I hope you have a great weekend! If you come up with some changes you’d like to make, please share them. I really want us to share with and learn from each other!
