Humming Staind’s “It’s Been A While…” Man! I miss you all. I’ve been incredibly busy and a bit overwhelmed.
1. I’ve been SICK. Mucous, fever, chills, the whole nine. Thank goodness my SO stepped up (complete with dinner, hot tea & lots of forehead kisses and hugs). I’m feeling a lot better but I have this horrible cough.
2. 2 weeks away from the release of “El Che.” I’m excited and nervous all in one. To be so intimately involved in this project has been so rewarding. I’ve learned so much about myself and others and on June 8th, I hope that you can show your support by buying the album (btw, my name is listed as “Associate Executive Producer” – how cool is that? lol). It is everything that hip hop needs – dope lyrics, great music, humor, raises issues about social injustice — I can go on and on but I’ll stop there. Because of that I’ve been knee deep in e-mails, contracts and text messages but I LOVE my life. We’re even selling red cassette tapes! You can buy the album here: http://www.dangerousnegro.com/products/el-che-pre-order
3. 2 more weeks of classes. Two more weeks of classes, finals week and then that’s it. I’m so far behind on grading that it’s not even funny. I HATE grading papers and I have so many papers and projects to finish before finals that I just might lose my mind. In the past I refused to take papers home to grade (I like to keep work and home life separate) but I may have to break my rule so that I’m not up until 3 or 4 o’clock in the morning.
I’m looking forward to summer. Going to do lots of traveling, lots of creating (scrapbooking that is) and lots of outdoorsy stuff. This will be my last summer in Chicago so I’ve got to relish every single moment. June 18th can’t come soon enough!
I have some new posts coming soon but I just wanted to let you know that I’m still breathing or as my granny would say, “I’m still kicking but not high.”
